Chun Fa Sheng Restaurant, awarded the title of “Chinese famous snack” by China Cuisine Association in the first session, was founded in 1920. It is a time-honored restaurantfamous for its local flavor snack “HulutouPaomo”. Similar to Beef and Mutton Paomo, Hulutou also has a long history.
Hulutouis a traditional dish unique to Xi’an and is mostly authentic in Chun Fa Sheng Restaurant. It is famous both at home and abroad for its steamed bun, tasty soup and tender meat.
It is said that Sun Simiao, the sage of medicine, came back from hunting herbs. He was hungry and ordered a bowl of fried pig intestines, but he didn’t like the taste and felt greasy, so he took some culinary herbs and spices from the gourd, such as cinnamon, Xidaxiang and Hanyin pepper. Since then, the soup was appetizing, and has attracted a lot of customers. The shop owner thus changed the store name to “Hulutou”(gourd head) to express gratitude for him.
“Rain has come just in time, in spring as if it is wise.” With an area of nearly 130 square meters, the hotel can accommodate more than 70 people to eat at the same time. In the restaurant, tourists can enjoy the Tang Dynasty style and features while having the Hulutou of Chang’an, so as to realize the perfect integration of culture, food and tourism. The restaurant operates a series of five element dishes and characteristic mixed rice. It ensures the authentic taste, safety and healthy raw materials.
